Everyone wants Capcom Vs. SNK 2. Everyone thinks it’s the pinnacle of competitive 2D fighters. Everyone is wondering why it hasn’t been re-released in this age of re-releases. Well, that should be April but the answer is a bit muddier than that.
When the topic of re-releasing the game came up on the Capcom Unity forums, Capcom’s own Christian Svensson stated that the game should be out April. However, the ball is in Sony’s court for this – so far PSN only – release. It’s on them to get it out and even Svensson himself finds it strange the game isn’t out already.
Not exactly the most comforting information. But I still find solace that we’re talking about Capcom Vs. SNK 2. The game was one of the biggest titles to stay in competitive circles in arcades for years. When you think about how long Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 lasted and still lasts, Capcom Vs. SNK 2 was right behind it, if not right alongside it. This title is a cash cow just waiting to broken open and I think Sony is just waiting for the perfect excuse to make it’s release land with a enormous thud that will bring the fans in.
