Here’s a fun fact about me and Mass Effect 3: I’ve sunk +230 hours into the Horde-style multiplayer mode. So imagine my excitement as Bioware revealed their final planned DLC for Mass Effect 3 and it’ll be a two-pronged release. First is Citadel, the book end closer to Commander Shepard’s story which will bring Commander Shepard back to the Citadel to uncover a sinister conspiracy. Most importantly, it’ll bring together all your favorite characters from Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 for one final hurrah, including a chance to rekindle bonds and romances you’ve established along the way.
The second part of the DLC is a multiplayer expansion entitled Reckoning. While the previous pack, Retaliation, appeared to reuse a lot of assets, Reckoning appears to be bringing in all new items to expand the multiplayer mode, includng the pictured Krogan Warlord, Geth Juggernaut, and even the Alliance Infiltration Unit (otherwise known by fans within the single-player universe as the sexbot). Of course, there will also be new weapons and equipment like the Venom Shotgun and Geth Scanner.
Citadel will be $14.99 and releasing March 5 for Xbox 360, PC, and PS3. Reckoning, like previous multiplayer expansions, will be free and coming out February 26 for Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.
Of one special note from a longtime multiplayer operative like myself is that one of the new weapons is called the Geth Spitfire Assault Rifle. It looks like it’s only taken them five DLC expansions for Bioware to admit that the stock Geth Pulse Rifle sucks and is too far gone to fix.
